Professor Lee Wei-Jei is a famous weight loss doctor in Taiwan who has been dedicated to weight loss for decades. With more than 6,000 weight loss cases, he has helped many obese patients lose nearly 100 kilograms. In 2018, he has been mentioned by an online bibliographic survey titled The Evolution of Bariatric Surgery Publications and Global Productivity: A Bibliometric Analysis in the medical journal Obesity Surgery. He became the top author contributing to the largest bariatric surgery publications worldwide. His contributions have won Best Paper Awards from the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders.

The Father of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery in Asia

Professor Lee has focused on bariatric surgery for over 20 years, making him the pioneer and founder of bariatric and metabolic surgery research in Asia. He is even known as the "father of bariatric and metabolic surgery in Asia" due to his rich experience and achievements in the field. He has been invited by international organizations to give lectures abroad, and his recent work in diabetes research shows that surgical treatment of diabetes is significantly better than the results of drug treatment and lifestyle control groups.

A Commitment to Research and Development

In addition to his clinical operations, Professor Lee is committed to weight loss surgery research. In 2005, he established Asia's firs integrated "Endoscopic Bariatric Surgery Center" in Minsheng General Hospital. The team's human body database has over 6,000 cases and 20 years of follow-up data, which significantly contributes to the bariatric surgery field. Professor Li has also developed laparoscopic gastric reduction and gastric bypass surgery, both originally in Asia, and has successfully applied other bariatric surgeries.

A Wholehearted Commitment to Patients

Professor Lee emphasizes that weight loss surgery is a type of gastrointestinal reconstruction surgery, and patients need to overcome possible sequelae after surgery and regularly return to the doctor for tracking, advice, and diagnosis. Despite false reports from the outside world, he is determined to concentrate on continuing to preside over the clinical services of diabetes and obesity research and weight loss medicine in Taiwan, serving patients wholeheartedly. At the Weight Loss Surgery Center, we are committed to providing our patients the best possible care and support on their weight loss journey.
